You might also be able to convert the media to something the Free version can handle. That will introduce an unnecessary generational loss, but you can minimize that if you know what you're doing.
I would also like to offer some advice, something I follow myself so I don't get caught out. ALWAYS test out new equipment/settings before you shoot the real thing.
Thank you for the advice. Yes, I agree, I will start testing things before going out and doing. I had not thought this would be a problem, but great advice to follow. Don't assume, test.
I really want the DR Studio version, so if that one deals well with 10-bit colour videos, I might as well bite the bullet and purchase a license.
I saw on a thread in Reddit that the person used Handbreak to convert the clips down to 8-bit but as you said, that adds complication to the process and a loss of some quality.
I edited out the parts that DR Free does not handle and I will see if I can buy a license next week.
