Questions about 5.1 sound - Resolve 18.6.7

Greetings everyone,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm new to the forum.

I am attempting to work with 5.1 sound in Fairlight. I cannot seem to figure out how to match up the wave forms with the right channel. I have the bus set to 5.1 and all of the channels set to 5.1. The rendered file is still playing everything L,C,R - I'm trying to send wave forms to L & R only.

Furthermore, ever since I switched the tracks to 5.1, none of the audio crossfades work or even get patched to the tracks.

Any help or a point to a good online tutorial would be helpful.

I have everything set up as just 5.1 (not 5.1 film).

I found a video that says I need to change to "multi-track" in Fairlight but that option does not seem to appear in Resolve 18, the video I watched dealt with 16.

Is the source media a single stream (i.e. mono) or multichannel (e.g. stereo or six embedded channels)?

Busses with a wider channel configuration (e.g. 5.1) assigned to, for example, a Stereo Bus will form an LoRo fold-down according to the ITU standard.

Lo [Left + Centre (-3dB) + LS (–3dB)]
Ro [(Right + Centre (–3dB) + RS (–3dB)]

LFE is discarded.
