How 2 connect instruments 2 Fairlight desktop console?

PostTue Mar 26, 2024 4:14 pm

I recently purchased a Fairlight desktop console to pair with a PC and Davinci 18. This is a complete upgrade from my older-school audio recording/mixing equipment which I had multiple instruments/mics hooked up to.

Because the Fairlight and PC do not have audio inputs for guitars, keyboards, drums, mics, etc. I'm unable to hook my components into the system to record/mix multiple components/vocals on Davinci 18.

Can anyone help to point me in the right direction to be able to accomplish this with my new setup?

Thanks

Resolve supports both WDM and ASIO compliant devices on Windows and any Core Audio compliant device on macOS.

How many physical inputs and outputs will you require?
⟦ Mac Pro 7,1 Rack ⊕ 16-core 3.2GHz ⊕ 32GB RAM ⊕ Radeon 580X • Resolve Studio 19.0 • macOS 14.4.1 ⟧
⟦ Fairlight Studio Console ⊕ Fairlight Audio Accelerator ⊕ Merging Hapi • Anubis • Ravenna CoreAudio VAD ⟧

You are going to need an audio interface to get audio in and out of your computer. The Fairlight Console is a control surface and no audio passes through it.
There are quite a few multi-channel audio interfaces available from the likes of RME, Presonus. Focusrite, and Audient to name a few.
Resolve Studio 19.0b1 build 20
Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Evo 860 SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (551.86 Studio Driver), Win10 Home (22H2), Speed Editor, Faderport mk1, Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ GW2270 + Samsung SA200, Canon C100mk2, Zoom H2n.

Here's the problem I'm having with trying to hook up my old interface...Davinci 18.6 will not recognize my Tascam (us-16x08) as an audio input. It will allow me to select Tascam in Preferences as my mic, but will not show up as an audio input when I select the input for recording on a track. The mic is already set as the preferred recording device on Windows. Is this because my interface is too old? Do I have to purchase a new one such as one of the ones mentioned? If there's potentially something else I might be missing, please let me know? Off the top of my head I think I would be looking at 8 inputs/2outputs. Thanks

Is this a Windows or macOS system?

On Windows Resolve supports both WDM and ASIO.

On macOS, Core Audio compliant devices are supported.

It is windows 11. If you know of any models of audio interfaces that would be compatible that would be great. Thank You.
