This is not purely a resolve-related request, but this would help a lot for the forum in general.

The restrictions for the types of files that can be uploaded are limited, and a change is just a matter of allowing a file extension.

I know that in the grand scheme of things, it's not that important, but the change is so minimal, it would take literally 10 secs to implement by the admin of the forum.

We often have to share bugs we find in Resolve or showcase something with images or videos.
It's easier and faster to drop a short 30-second, 800x800 animation than links to a file-sharing service. Most people won't click on it (you never know what's at the end of the link, either).

We can already upload GIFs. But GIFs are super heavy and very outdated. And there is a size limit for files in this forum anyway. So at the end of the day, it doesn't even matter if GIFs are allowed. It's fine for animated emojis, but that's not useful in any way.

Why not make this forum more user-friendly (for what it's made for) by allowing

- And with Resolve being able to export webp files too, we can export gifs, but it's like adding the ability to export some 1998 AVI files. It can be useful, but it's so late to the party -

On top of that, it would take less disk space for BMD. It all adds up. Very good-quality static web images can be 50% lighter than their jpeg counter part. And for animation in comparison with Gif, it's night and day.

In the mean time, for those who are interested, I use https://ezgif.com/ to convert videos to gifs or webp files. - There are tools to convert them locally.

If you post here, it's better to convert it to webp, then upload them on: https://imgbb.com/. Grab the link and use the [img] tag so it will be visible in your message.
