Resolve 19: Please Fix Anamorphic Rotation From Inspector

PostTue Apr 23, 2024 2:15 pm

My understanding is that this has been a problem for a long while, but it would be great to finally have this fixed now that Resolve 19 is going through early stage beta testing.

Using the rotation angle from the Inspector on anamorphic footage causes the image to compress back into itself (as if it were squeezing again). It stretches the image in a very unnatural way. This makes simple tasks like fixing straight lines in post-production a huge pain, since the only way you can properly rotate the footage is to go into Fusion.

Not sure why it's been like this for so long.

I am going to make it easy for everyone who is having this issue with their anamorphic footage (When rotating footage the image skews and squishes as though you've rotated the lens against the sensor) All you need to to is add an Adjustment Clip from your effects panel under the Toolbox and place that above the clip you wish to rotate. Click on the Adjustment Clip to rotate the image any which way you want without squishing the image.
