What does "L6.0" in codec info mean?

PostSat Apr 27, 2024 6:50 pm

Hi! I want to use old material of mine, but I forgot weather I shot it in D-LOG or anything alike. It does not look like it, but I still would like to find out, so I opened the "File" option in the Editor window. There it says under "Video codec":

H.265 Main 10 L6.0

I have no idea what "L6.0" stands for (can't find any explanation on wikipedia about x265 either). Can anybody please explain? Thank you!

Level 6.0 :)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Effi ... and_levels (basically same principle as h.264)

As for D-log, either Resolve Color Management recognizes it or doesn't.
I'm not sure if mediainfo recognizes D-log, but that's my best bet for finding out

They are levels indicating the minimum level decoders (software and hardware) must support to decode the video. Lower-level encodings are always compatible with higher-level decoders.
