How to always start playing from the in point in viewer?

PostSat Apr 27, 2024 7:52 pm

I am struggling with a seemingly simple problem.

1) I have all my media cut by setting IN and OUT points

2) In EDIT mode I have all my media displayed as thumbnails and once in a while I want to preview a clip by double clicking it

3) When I do that the clip opens in the viewer but the viewer playhead is positioned at a seemingly random place

4) If I hit the space bar now, the clip will start playing from that random place which is not useful

Ideally I would want the viewer playhead to always be positioned at the IN point whenever I am previewing a clip. Is there a setting for that?

Hit Shift+I before you hit spacebar.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thanks that sounds a bit faster. But whether I use a shortcut or use the mouse to drag the playhead to the beginning, it is still an extra step I am trying to avoid.

What actually determines the position of the playhead when you open a clip?

The playhead stays where it was last positioned on a clip.
