Need help to delete a graded colour version 18.6.6

Unable to delete version.

This is the error I get when just trying to delete a graded version below

'Error when trying to delete a graded colour version'

This version is still referenced in one of the selected clips.

Can't see anything in the manual to help.

So frustrating not being able to just delete a version

You can't delete a version that's in use. You have to switch to a different version on whatever clip(s) is still using it.

You in Remote or Local grades? My dim memory of this problem is you have to be in LOCAL for this to work. Jim is right: you can't delete the version you're actually working on.

What's your reason for permanently deleting the old version? They don't take up much space in the DRP. I just leave them in there. If you're nervous about it, you could make a copy of the timeline (for safety), and then select all clips on the Color page, then right-click and choose Delete Unused Versions. But honestly, I don't think you have to worry about it.

Chapter 139, "Grade Management" (starting on page 3112 of the Resolve 18.6 manual) goes into great detail about versions and groups and all that other stuff, and it's an important read for anybody who wants to really understand this process.
