Upgraded to 19 Optimize Neural Engine Freeze

Hi all,
I upgrade to version 19 and I am getting the box to Optimize Neural Engines and it just freezes every time. This also happened to me on upgrading to 18.6. I know some people have had this issue just wondering if there was ever a workaround for it? I am not even sure if I can get a log created with how fast it freezes.

Full details on your system would be valuable, OS too.

Can u please try again and if it fails generate diagnostic logs and post a link to them here as per the FAQs.

Hiii, I think I have the same issue. It's stuck at Optimizing engine 1 of 10...

How long did you wait?
Is the Resolve process using CPU?

I waited a fair amount of time, maybe 5-7 minutes.

I just ended up uninstalling and going back to 18.6.3 and calling it a day. Its older but at least it runs.

After about half an hour, 1 out of 10 started optimizing. After 2 hours, all 10 were finally done!

just tried the 19.3b and it is still occurring. This is absolutely rediculous. I know I am not the only person having this issue. Can the dev team do this NE optimization as a side load or an in app option. Having it execute right at launch and prevent me from using the app is insane.

We can bypass the Optimization. It's mot mandatory.

I am genuinely no cap confused on what this post is. Are you just trying to flex your system specs like a child in the 1990s? Gonna tell us your ICQ number next?

actualy it's a of an bit older / slower machine, circia 2019, removed from the front line client faceing gear, now lives in my home suite, and the 2699v4's max clock on a single core is 3.5, so not a rocket ship on a single core atall, most gamer machines would run well past it in 2024 on single core preformance
what i'm offereing is a data point, a w10 machine of reasonable, but not top line spec runs the process reasonably well
summation = the issues reported may have something to do with specfic machine or OS issues, and that could be looked at as well, the software is not an issue in my use case
(and i'm amused that Resolve normaly mutli threads like a demon, in this case, errr... not so much)

I have the same issue -
Beta 2 worked fine.
Beta 3 crashed on boot, a split second after opening Projects page.
Beta 4 opens Projects page, displays the Optimize Neural Engine dialog, and freezes - the window cannot be moved, buttons cannot be clicked.
GPU usage at zero, CPU usage at 100% of one core, RAM usage stable at 3.7GB Private Bytes, 2.1GB Working Set.
Windows 11 22H2, nVidia A5000 in an Asus ProArt laptop, nVidia drivers 555.91. Reboot didn't help.
"generate diagnostic logs" probably isn't an option if Resolve UI isn't responsive, but I'm attaching some logs I found in AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\logs\
Edit: All 4 betas work fine on my other PC with Windows 10 + Ryzen 7950X + Radeon 6900XT

I had the same problem with hp g2 desktop running windows 11 and a rtx3080ti. I updated to the latest Nvidia studio driver and that fixed the issue for me.

In 19.0 beta 5, instead of hanging, it crashes on boot - shows splash screen for the usual amount of time, and then for a split second shows another window (looked smaller than the project manager window) and exits immediately.

This is still happening with Resolve 19.0 stable release.
Uninstalled Resolve. Deleted ProgramData\... folder. Reinstalled Resolve. Burned through the second activation of my Resolve Studio key, because apparently the uninstall didn't de-activate its use for recycling.
Resolve flashes the "neural engine" question for a split second and crashes silently.
tested with 560.81 desktop drivers, 560.81 studio drivers, 560.94 notebook drivers
EDIT: What I needed to do to fix my issue was reinstalling Python. Turns out Resolve runs some Python scripts on startup and doesn't handle exceptions properly.

UPDATE: can confirm updating my python did resolve the problem with the freezing didn't even have to reinstall Davinci

Been trying to figure this out for weeks, installing the latest release of Python fixed my issue with Davinci Resolve "Optimize Neural Engine" Freezing.

I just let mine sit on the frozen loading box for 30mins or so at 0% progress into anything and then it just disappeared into nothing and doesn't have the "optimize" button in the preferences anymore so I'm guessing its a visual bug maybe?

yea, was a bit weird for 19.0.2
Usually it counts from 1-10 and the bar scrolls to indicate progress.
19.0.2, the box popped up after clicking and sat there seemingly doing nothing.
I started stop watch - after 2.5 min, the box just disappeared = guess it was done.
Went into a 'current' project from 19.0.1 with tracked magic masks... had to reset/retrack them so the neural engine was apparently updated - just the optimization dialog box didn't update.
... and the file was updated at:
C:\Users\'youruser'\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\DVIP\Cache

Happy to say 19.0.3 went as 'normal'.
Updated to Nvidia Studio Driver 565.90. Restarted PC.
Installed 19.0.3. Restarted PC.
Started Resolve - no prompt for Neural Engine optimize.
Deleted Neural Engine cache file.
Started Resolve, got the prompt to run Neural Engine Optimization.
Update box with 1 of 67 and scrolling progress bar came up and progressed.
Took awhile - 5+ min.
All good!

Thank you so much to the guy who suggested the python update i was going insane trying to find something on how to stop studio freezing, why isn't these suggestions or system needs not part of the install package? would have saved me so much time and stress if the program installs the necessary software requirements or checks itself... thanks guys huge help
