NVIDIA RTX Video, the popular AI-powered super-resolution feature supported in the Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox browsers, is now available as an SDK to all developers, helping them natively integrate AI for upscaling, sharpening, compression artifact reduction and high-dynamic range (HDR) conversion.

Coming soon to video editing software Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve and Wondershare Filmora, RTX Video will enable video editors to upscale lower-quality video files to 4K resolution, as well as convert standard dynamic range source files into HDR. In addition, the free media player VLC media will soon add RTX Video HDR to its existing super-resolution capability.

I don't like the look of Nvidia Super resolution, it reminds me of early topaz upscaling but currently Resolve has no ability to upscale lower quality video, only high quality and maybe processing in slower than real time with Nvidia Super resolution can do a better quality job

I think Topaz is ahead of the game in image quality, after years of research.
It runs very well on Nvidia hardware and hopefully their plug-in will mature.

Finally, something to compete with Apple on a laptop for DR.

I am not sure there is even lower tear still being sold. Still for Resolve you need good VRAM so it is a moot point.
What i expect is this will be expanded to Windows on ARM Nvidia proposals.

I got curious and split the file into .pngs
The two relevant images are

where they compare a 3840x2160 original to a 4x VSR.

After looking at them, I am not convinced it's a good scaler.

Have you downloaded the latest Studio driver? I have the new Super Scale and I haven't installed beta 4 yet. I have a 4080 on a laptop.

Tell me this ain't so, from the release page for beta 5:

Nvidia RTX Video effects and H.265 encodes require Windows 11

This is horrible! I won't be able to render H.265 output with the nvidia driver anymore? I have to run out and buy a whole new system just so I can run Windows 11? Who's responsible for this?

I just want to know if 19b4 will be my last upgrade for the time being..

Beta 5 also shows this:

-New automatic SDR to HDR tone mapping using Resolve FX Nvidia RTX Video HDR on Windows.
-New 2x and 4x SuperScale options using Nvidia RTX Video on Windows.

it seems that any Nvidia card with RTX in its name might work.

The W11 only seems to be a restriction by Blackmagic, Nvidia says it is W11 and W10 compatible.

Win 10 and 11 is valid for RTX Video.

I'm also using Topaz Video AI too. with beta 5 upgrade i like 4x RTX enhancement better than Topaz.

Also it works %60 faster than Topaz now

im so happy

Topaz has 7.1 FPS while upscaling
Davinci Has 12 FPS with 4x RTX Enhance

Topaz poorly utilises GPU using any GPU is my understanding. Only has a couple of models that aren't useful to many that will use GPU well. They've had years to improve but didn't bother, there's competition coming from everywhere now but most don't have the granularity of settings or range of models that Topaz has yet.

It doesn't work like Resolve's enhanced 2x upscale or Nvidia RTX superscale 2x and 4x which uses all the GPU, Topaz is reliant on heavy use of CPU and that is what looks to slow it down.

That is in general correct and my experiments with it make me believe it is not enlarging itself but _encoding_ of the enlarged frames being written to file that is responsible for that CPU hogging. In other words, if Topaz Labs redesigned overall process or improved speed of "codec" overall performance and experience would be significantly better.

I can confirm that DR 19 B5 can use RTX Video on Win10 machine that has Nvidia 2080 Super card (560.70 Studio drivers).

That was interesting what you mentioned about the CPU problem with Topaz. Good to know that 20 series and Win10 can use the Nvidia superscale. Could you try playing or encoding a 4K video with 2x Nvidia superscale using ultra setting, while watching your VRAM use and speed?

I wonder if all your VRAM gets used and it slows to a crawl. I felt sure Nvidia said there is a 1x mode for improving quality of videos without upscaling to a higher resolution but I don't see it in Resolve, so that means having to use 2x upscale instead. I hoped you could use 2x or 4x on 4K media in a 4K project and it would behave as 1x but it doesn't 4x uses more Vram than 2x, which would mean 1x would use less again and be compatible with more GPU's.
