Terrible crashes after Desktop Video 10.0

PostThu Apr 03, 2014 7:09 pm

Dear BMD,

I recently encountered some issues (bugs, freezes) with Resolve 10 and Premiere CC that I believe are due to my Decklink 4K Extreme and it's drivers. I since then upgraded to Desktop Video 10.0, which also flashed the firmware on my Decklink as part of the update process, after which I started experiencing terrible OS crashes (blue screen memory dumps) and random freezes crashes in all apps that use playback via Decklink 4K.

Here's how it looks (scary, I know, never had this before on this workstation)

Since 10.0 I've literally had to reboot my computer several times every day, as Resolve kept crashing, freezing and not running at all until I've completely disabled any Decklink playback.

What is wrong with my setup, why did 10.0 completely break it?

I am on a HP Z820, running Windows 7 with a Quadro K5000 (no drivers updated since before crashes started)

Are there any crash logs or diagnostics I can run and send to BMD support?

-Thanks

Take off the V10 drivers and go back to 9.9.6. The V10 drivers seem to be very unstable

Downgraded to 9.8.

BMD, please fix your drivers. I was getting a whole stack of BSOD errors on both Win7 and Win8 with Desktop Video 10.0.

Also, BSOD crashes while in Resolve corrupt the database somewhat, I just lost a graded project due to this error.

Please get serious.

I wouldn't bother the 10.1 drivers are worse than the V10's for the 4K cards. At least on the V10 drivers it would recognise the Ultrastudio 4K even though it didn't work. In the 10.1's it's just seen as a BM I/O device with an exclamation mark next to it

Similar behavior with either Desktop Video or Media Express, no crashes but there is no input video anymore. No warnings or errors during 10.x installation or flashing the card, except that Win7 Pro 64 Device Manager shows only BM I/O, instead of BM Audio, DL WDM Streaming, BM Driver like with 9.6.6. Reinstalling either 10.0 or 10.1 makes no difference in said behavior, has anybody installed 10.x from a clean machine?

I install on to clean machines all the time. The 10.xx drivers are garbage, don't use them

I was fine with 10.0 & 10.1 for a while. But eventually I had to roll back to Desktop 9.9.6 and also roll back my display driver.

AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. 13.251.0.0

My system is very stable now.
