Change: switching a/c mode, node number sticky in burn in

Ok, this was working fine for really EVER…. Now the functionality changed and I’m not sure if that is a good thing or not.

Let’s say that you have a series of shots
Let’s say that you have the [%timeline_index] burn in on the screen
Let’s say that you are in [A-MODE]
Let’s say that you are in shot 10 -> burn in says “10”

Let’s say that you switch form [A-Mode] in [C-mode] and your timeline index re-adjust and now you’re at shot index 22

In every version of resolve prior to 19, the burn in reflect that number - 22
In version 19 it says 10. Why? That is disorienting at best and wrong at worst.

The functionality stays: if I recall a memory to apply, like [22-PVW mem] it apply teh instance 22, irregardless of i am in A or C mode, and they can be two different shots. (This is as it was and intended…)

So… what is teh though process for this switch?

To me, this is now the correct behavior - as I understand it, “%Timeline Index” reflects the order of appearance of the clip in the (edited) timeline.
The “Timeline Thumbnail Mode C” is just a view mode for convenience in color grading, so this shouldn't change the index.
And since I can also burn it to a file, it should remain the same in every view and on every page.
For example, if I exported individual clips with the name “%Timeline Index”, I would get two completely differently named sets of files depending on the view mode of the color page.
This sounds wrong to me.

Sorry, this is a bug for me.

Let’s say you are in [C] mode view and you have the burn in on, park on a shot i want to reference to.
I see a number in the burned in, let’s say 13, and I ask for [reference on] [timeline] [13] and you get a complete random still. You are forced to look at the GUI and you discover that your shot now has a relative timeline number of 34, so you ask for [reference timeline 34] and it gives you the proper still.

Your thought process is also not coherent with the actual behaviour: if you REALLY want the absolute number of the timeline, try to select just 10 shots in the middle: you get number 1-10, not the absolute number of the timeline anyway.

This was working from day one.
It’s a bug and needs to be fixed.

All I'm saying is that %Timeline Index should represent the index of the clips in the Edit timeline, not the Color Page View mode.

If there was a particular functionality that used to work for you and now doesn't,
perhaps you can elaborate. Maybe the developers didn't implement it correctly.

After carefully re-reading your posts, it seems to me that your Advanced Panel no longer fits the numbers. You don't write a word about your problem being related to this panel.
I can't comment on that as I don't work with that panel.
Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, is about the speed of execution of tasks with the advance panel, this numbers are meaningless of you don't color or you don't use the big panel.

You have three uses
Recall a number and jump to that clip
Recall a number and apply a memory
Recall a number and compare to current.

All three are currently broken in "C" mode, this function was working fine since 2007

Hi

We've added a new Color Thumbnail Index for this use case.
