Is there a driver for RTX A2000/Resolve 19

I'm trying to get my laptop configured for Resolve 19 but don't seem to find a driver that is "approved" by Resolve 19?

This is the latest Studio driver on the NVIDIA site:
565.90 | WHQL, Release Date: Tue Oct 15, 2024

It does not list the A2000 as a supported device but it does install (at least seemingly) but Resolve 19 does find the GPU but does not recognize it as CUDA?

Does someone have a direct link to a driver that works with the A2000 and Resolve 19 or do I need to back out to one of the beta versions?

There is a driver, but the bad news is that in their mighty wisdom Nvidia has choosen not to offer direct driver downloads anymore - you will need to install RTX Experience for getting drivers:

Oh, it seems there is a way to circumvent RTX Experience:

Here is the latest international studio driver:
https://de.download.nvidia.com/Windows/ ... h-whql.exe

I found the direct link via German magazine Computerbase:
https://www.computerbase.de/downloads/t ... o-treiber/

And the latest new feature driver:
https://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/ ... h-whql.exe

Thanks but none of those seem to work with 19.02? Has anyone actually got this combo to work?

The screenshot shows the GPU processing mode set to OpenCL - perhaps it got to that state during your debug process. You may want to set it back to CUDA and try again?

Shrinivas,

I can only choose OpenCL, CUDA is not offered as an alternative in the dropdown?

Did the driver installation involve a custom clean install and a reboot?

I'm hesitant to suggest DDU and other possible driver debug tools, but you may end up needing them.

I did the "Typical" (there was no "clean install" alternative) and yes, I have booted the system (many times) after the driver update. Is there evidence that V19 + A2000 can work? You don't happen to have a link to the Resolve Studio 19 beta 5, I seem to have cleaned out all but the beta 1 from my machine?

Resolve 19.02 does work on my laptop with Intel integrated GPU and Nvidia Quadro M2200 (4GB VRAM) - so I see no reason your newer RTX shouldn't work.

OK, seems the "Advanced" alternative gave the option of doing a clean install, no change. Seems beta 5 is the only alternative?

So which version specifically did you install? The 560.76-quadro-rtx-desktop-notebook-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql (which seems to be the on also in the NVIDIA experience pack) or the 553.09-quadro-rtx-desktop-notebook-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql?

Neither of those is what is flagged as the latest "Studio" driver on the NVIDIA site.. (which is the one listed in my first post). Confused..

You are mixing up the Gamer vs. the Pro drivers.
Pro drivers are always behind because stability is the most important factor.
For the Pro drivers there are two branches - the very stable studio drivers which are recommended here, and the New Features drivers with experimental new features.

Well, these 2 were the ones you linked:

560.76-quadro-rtx-desktop-notebook-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql
553.09-quadro-rtx-desktop-notebook-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql

and at least on my setup neither works?

When installing the driver select Custom. You should then get the options which include a check box to perform a Clean Install.

Yes, thanks Charles, did a clean install on all the various driver versions, didn't change the outcome.

Perhaps it would be helpful if you could share a link to a Resolve diagnostics log file and a Windows System Information .NFO file.

Happy to if this seems to be an error and the A2000 should work!

This is the current driver for your GPU (553.09):

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/232670/

Please download and install that with the Custom - Clean Install options.

I've got an HP zBook with an RTX3000 and it works.

I've got an HP zBook with an RTX A4500 and it works.

So I'm sure your A2000 should work fine.

Currently, your Resolve is in the Auto-Detect GPU Processing mode and is selecting OpenCL, so something is certainly wrong with the NVIDIA driver install.

If clean installing the 553.09 driver doesn't help, then you're going to need to DDU uninstall the NVIDIA driver and then run the 553.09 installer again. This is a link describing how to get and use DDU to uninstall GPU drivers. The thread describes removing the Intel GPU driver. Instead of Intel, select NVIDIA:

Hm, ran DDU as per instructions, installed the driver you linked (clean install) but problem still remains, Resolve only offers OpenCL as an option...

Open the NVIDIA Control Panel app.

It should open with Manage 3D Settings selected.

In the Global Settings tab, set the Preferred graphics processor to "High Performance NVIDIA processor" if it's not already.

Then in the lower left corner, select System Information. Send screen shots of the Display and Components tabs.

That all pretty much matches that I see with my A4500 on the zBook.

Sorry, I see the components screen shots came in as I was posting this.

Yeah, all that looks pretty much like what I see.

I'm just baffled by Resolve not allowing CUDA to be selected.

Maybe some other app or process on the system is causing an issue. I've never seen a scenario like this.

Any idea where to look, only other component that is regularly updated is the Inter driver for the on-chip GPU?

Install and run GPU-Z.

Select the A2000. Does the CUDA box have a checkmark?

The only other odd thing I see about your system is that you are running Microsoft Windows 10 Education.

Maybe that's related? Don't have a way to test. Not something I've seen before.

But if GPU-Z sees CUDA, I would think Resolve could.

I see you have OBS Studio installed, and in the NFO you sent, there was an obs64.exe process running.

Open Windows Task Manager, select the Details tab, and if obs64.exe is in the list, try ending that process and see what that does.

I've been running Resolve including 19 betas on this machine for a couple of years so don't think the Edu license is the culprit. Yes, I guess I had OBS running but there is no permanent OBS process so all the latest efforts have been without OBS. Even did a DDU on the Inter driver and reinstalled an older version but no effect...

OK, looking through your rolling logs, which I should have done sooner, I see that on Oct 4, it was using CUDA with driver 556.12.

The next time Resolve was launched was on Oct 17, and that's when it started using OpenCL. With the same 556.12 driver.

I do see that the Intel driver changed between those 2 dates.

On Oct 4, it was Intel GPU Driver: 31.0.101.5388.

On Oct 17, it was Intel GPU Driver: 32.0.101.6078

I don't see why that would affect Resolve's CUDA select capability. But that's the obvious change in the logs. Did you change or add anything else on the system between those 2 dates? If not, maybe trying to reinstall the 31.0.101.5388 Intel driver would be something to try.

I thought about the Intel so as I said, did a DDU on the Intel and backed out even further + then updated to the 31.xxx version. Also updated Resolve to 03. No change...

And all other apps on my machine that I can think of happily use the NVIDIA... SO seems still Resolve specific?

Chatted with NVIDIA support, and they were in the end able to solve the problem. For some reason some Windows power setting was set to "save power" which implied the on-chip GPU. Here is the correct setting under Display -> Graphic settings

Thanks for the update. The NVIDIA screen shot you provided showed it was selected to High Performance mode.

I guess the Windows graphics setting overrode that?

I'll add that to my notes.
