TS Transport Streams since Dr 19.02

Hello,

i was very happy as i read the following:

"What's new in DaVinci Resolve 19.0.2

Support for decoding MPEG transport stream .ts clips."

So i tried to import mpeg.ts streams from my sat receiver VU+ Duo 4k, which was german tv with 1280x720 50p with bitrates 16000 kBit/sec and 3Audiotracks (mpeg, mpeg with audiodescription and dolby ac3.

I can import the files, but there is no picture and no sound in Davinci Resolve, and the timeline can“t be played. After that when i import a .mov or any other supported file the same problem - no audio/video and the timeline doesn`t play.

Only after restart DR works again.

Anyone?

Can you post a short sample to a cloud service? Are you using Studio?

Yes, it is the actual 19.03 Studioversion.

Here is a recording (123 MB) with a transport stream ts file.

Hmm, even tsMuxer complains about the subtitle stream in that file. But removing it still doesn't make it work in Resolve. The only way I could use the file in Resolve was to rewrap it to MKV using MKVToolNix, unchecking the subtitle stream to remove it. Then the H.264 video and AC3 audio stream work well in Resolve (tested in Resolve Studio 19.0.3 using a Mac).

I don't think it has to be MKV but that's what I tested.

I think those endless Telext "Menu" entries are the culprit. The support of .ts streams is pretty new and not all flavours might be supported yet.
My old habit of just rewrapping into .mov (fast and painless) made it work in DR.

Maybe BM can look into this and strip those on import.

Yes, that would be great if BM can look into it and make it work. ;-)

Shouldn't be too difficult either. Shutter Encoder is automatically stripping that stuff by a very fast re-wrap.

I just tried it myself with a MPEG1/2 TS stream grabbed directly from a BBC broadcast over DVBT2.
No dice... Refused point blank to accept it.

Had to load it up in Shotcut and output it as a regular mp4 video file before I could use it in Resolve Studio 19.0.3.
(This is what I always had to do before support for TS streams was announced).
Handbrake handles it fine (FFMPEG) as does VLC.

Stream 0 - video
MPEG1/2 (mpgv)

Stream 1 - audio
MPEG audio layer 1/2 (mpga)

Stream 2 - subtitles
DVB Subtitles (dvds)

Stream 3 - audio description
MPEG audio layer 1/2 (mpga)

I just installed Resolve 19.1.4 build 11.
When I import TS streams, I get video just fine, but only the first frame of audio.
The rest is silent.
HELP!?
