Error 700 / Error 702 / System crash and more :(

I got a very strange problem since the version of Resolve 19.2 then 19.3 studio. I work on a 4k project mixing mutliples files in 4k and 1080P. For the 1080P files, i use the Nvidia RTX upscaler in x2 mode, preset High.

During a render, the export crash randomly. And sometimes the PC freeze with a blue screen or the timeline struggle a lot then freeze and display an Error 700 or 702.

I searched on the forum various solution :
- Update my Nvidia Drivers with a clean install trough DDU: nothing
- Try the Nvidia Studio version: nothing
- Uninstall then reinstall Resolve: nothing
- Install Cuda Toolkit: nothing
- Try several BIOS for my motherboard: nothing

Anybody here have any idea about how to fix this disagreement please ?
My config is :
- Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite / AMD R9 5950X / 64 Gb (4x16) 3600Mhz / MSI RTX 4090 24 Gb Ventus / Multi disks in M.2 and NVME / Windows 11 23H2 (build 22631.4391) / Nvidia Studio Version 565.90 / Resolve Studio 19.3

Anoher thing, when i work on my edit on my Mac Book Pro M1 Max (64 Gb), i have no crash at all . Everything works like a charm. The only thing i change is the Upscaller x2 in enhanced mode instead of RTX.

In case of, i can send a file with the report from Studio.

After you restart Resolve from a crash, start a new project, or load an existing project, so you can access the Resolve Help menu.

Then, in the Resolve Help menu, select "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop"

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here. Make sure the links don't require access credentials.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

I got news. I updated my Windows OS from 23h2 to 24h2 version yesterday at night. Ath the begining, same things happened when exporting, but it was only blue screen and reboot with this message "Stop code; SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" and what failed: dxgmms2.sys. No error 700, 702 or failed export. Just a blue screen.

I investigated a bit but found nothing despites several methods (ram test, Direct X diagnostic etc...). Then, i choosen to uninstall with DDU Nvidia Studio Drivers 565.90, then uninstall Resolve Studio, install Nvidia Game Ready Drivers 560.81 (published in July 2024), then re-install Resolve Studio (still 19.3 version) and now it works like a charm.

I'm super happy but now i wonder what is supposed to happen if if update my GPU drivers to the last version? I fear my crashs happen again

So, i updated my windows from 23h2 to 24h2 including the latest microsoft updates for the system. Resolve Studio 19.3 continued to crash during the export with a restart and a blue screen with the message "SYSTEM-THREAD-EXECEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". What failed : dxgmms2.sys

I investigated about how to fix to this, found a solution to analysed my Direct X, removed an audio plugin called Virtual Audio Cable. But the system continued to crash.

So i have unsinstalled the Resolve Studio 19.3, uninstalled the Drivers NVIDIA Geforce Game Ready 566.03 with DDU in safe mode. Then, i installed the Nvidia Game Ready Drivers 561.09, and re-installed Resolve Studio 19.3. At the first load of DRS, it offered me to optimise Cuda Cores as well (like the others time) and finally, it worled like a charm. No more blue screen and reboot system. The two latest version of Game Ready (566.03 / 568.90) and last Studio Drivers (565.90, i didn't try the 561.09 )crashed my system.

I send you the previous file form my 23h3 windows when it was crashing in case of and send you 24h2 with problamatic drivers if needed.

I ahve this exact same issue, I have tried every possible issue solve, but not yet solved. Even my local pc store couldnt find the issue.

PC specs:
i9 12900
64gb RAM 4x16 3200mhz
RTX4070ti, software 566.03
Fast m.2 SSD
Windows 24H2

There is 1 possible solution I'm gonna try and that is using 23H2 version of windows. The 24H2 is full of bugs, u can search it. I hope someone can give me the solution cause of have multiple clients waiting on the videos, around 60 videos I need to deliver

Sometimes,Resolve crash with a return to the desktop, sometimes the system reboot with this following message on a blue screen about a fail with dxgmms2.sys

There is one Windows .dmp file, that implies it perhaps crashed trying to do a GPU Optimize process.

What I do see are DOZENS of Bluescreen reports in the NFO Windows Error Reporting area, from today, from 16:35 to 19:35.

Many many more bluescreen reports, than Resolve logs. Seems like something other than Resolve is causing bluescreen issues.

I'd suggest you use the Microsoft Event Viewer, and see if that gives a clue about where the bluescreen issues are coming from.

I sent you the logs, but for some reason nothing has changed. You offered to roll back the drivers, but did not say where to get them. And they did not answer the question of whether your team has professional staff employed in the TV or film industry.
But I have same error and some else. Such as the interface constantly forgets the settings, despite the fact that they are saved and so on.

I 'm a bit lost and desesperate concerning this problem. I try several methods but it seems i'm still stuck with this bug. Do you think it worth it to re-install Windows 11 with a fresh version ?

While generally a last resort, due to how painful it is, a clean Windows install generally fixes unexplainable issues.

If you go that route, install Resolve after the Windows install, and before installing other apps, to verify Resolve works. Then start installing other apps, ideally one at a time, and verify if they have affected Resolve operation.

I don't see any GPU errors in the Resolve logs. I see lots of decode errors for your MP3 and MP4 files.

Nothing that should cause Windows BSOD crashes.

I see you did install Mozilla Firefox. Wondering if that could be involved somehow?

I have uninstalled the latest Nvidia Drivers (566.14, game ready version) this morning with DDU in Safe Mode, then install the Nvdia Drivers Games Ready 561.09 and no more crashs in Resolve or Blue Screen with dxgmms2.sys.

Now i'm pretty sure there is something wrong with the latest nvidia drivers. Is it possible ?

I check my system in Windows with a msinfo 32 and i noticed that Secure Boot was not activated. I chek my bios but it was. So i swithched in the bios from Auto to Enabled ans after a restart, it was active. Da Vinci still craehd a bit but i wil perform a new clean install of the software and the latest studio drivers as well.

Will keep you up to date.

So finally ...nothing new. Resolve is still freezing during an export.

I was wondering if some conflicts could happened regarding the fact i edit my video project part time on my PC with a Nvidia Cards and on my Mac Book M1 Max ?

Would it be possile it creats may be a kind of disorder (M1 Max have not the same optimisation than Nvidia RTX for example).

There is a cache file you can delete. It used to be called something like TensorRT.cache, but just now when I went looking for it on Linux, I found a DaVinciResolve/DVIP/Cache folder.
The full path was /home/YOU/.local/share/DaVinciResolve/DVIP/Cache/LONG-HEXADECIMAL-NUMBER.cache

Deleting the *.cache file made Resolve offer the optimization choice on restart

I was having the exact same errors as you, down to the BSOD and error message. I ended up having to reinstall Windows 11. The whole issue started to occur after downloading the Nvidia Studio Driver Version:
566.14 and upgrading Resolve to 19.1 that I did back to back last Friday.


My system setup is 5950X, 64G DDR4, and 4070 Ti Super 16GB.

I just made an account on this forum, so if my issue reoccurs, i'll make sure to post logs this time.

I just found out what was causing mine: my SSD that Windows is installed on. There was a firmware update for it. Western Digital SSDs were getting BSODs from a Windows 11 24h2 update. Might want to check your SSD firmware as well

Hello, I recently registered on the forum to be able to look for the solution to exactly the same problem as Cedric, curiously my Windows is also installed on a Western Digital M.2 SSD, but looking in the WD application it says that the firmware is updated. How have you done to update it?

I appreciate any suggestions to discover the error.
