Issue: Error decoding FLAC in 24-bit 7.1 channels

Using DaVinci 19.0.3.5, an issue of using flac:

1. Download the flac file from https://github.com/eviluess/eviluess.gi ... /2471.flac
2. Import this file into DaVinci
3. Check 1'45"

This file can be transcoded to 16-bit 7.1 flac and DaVinci can handle it correctly.
This file can be transcoded to 24-bit 7.1 PCM Wave file and DaVinci can handle it correctly.
Other DAWs such as Reaper can handle the 2471 flac correctly.

I do not have access to macOS, but I can confirm that I have the 7.1 audio track configured correctly in the FLAC file, as well as in other audio files in the recorded YouTube video.

As you may have noticed, the 2471 audio in track 7.1 displays a partially broken waveform, and there are random periods of silence within that range. This issue does not occur when I use 16-bit 7.1 FLAC files or 24-bit 7.1 WAV files; it only happens with 24-bit 7.1 FLAC files.

OK, I see a gap of 15 seconds from 1:45 in the waveform, but my meters keep moving and I hear the sound.

Each individual file has its own fixed range.
For instance, the A1 file has an A1 range, while the A2 file has an A2 range.
The boundaries of these ranges are not the same and are not fixed as a certain percentage of the total duration.

For example, I found that one file starts at 0'09" and has a total duration of 27 seconds.

Agree, this is not a new issue.
It started from v18.5 or even earlier.

How to let BM know this issue?

I just wonder why the QA team didn't notice this issue.
And I don't even know why using libFlac can cause this issue, it must be very stable for years.
(And so does the QA team of BM skip this test?)

Not reproducing issues with the host freezing with FLAC source media, nor issues with reduce files as waveforms are available for FLAC source media on the macOS and Windows systems here.

I’m glad to see someone in charge has noticed this thread. The 7.1 24-bit FLAC issue is significant, and I have already posted a sample media file in this thread for reference. I hope this issue can be resolved soon.

Wow, so sad.
And I believe there's another issue about flac 7.1 -- channel layout mapping.
It's not the same as the official flac document.

I need to swap the rear and side channels each time I import a 7.1 flac.
( I have been actually doing this by sending to a bus swapping channels, if I plan to import many 7.1 flac
files.)
Since this can be work-arrounded, it's not that urgent than the 24-71 one.

Regarding the test file for the 7.1 FLAC import issue, I checked it in the latest version of DaVinci Resolve, and it appears to be fixed now.
