Speed Editor in reference manual

PostThu Oct 31, 2024 2:31 pm

In the DaVinci Resolve 18 Reference Manual:
Chapter 48 Titles, Generators, and Stills
Chapter 49 Using the DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor and Editor Keyboard
Chapter 50 Compositing and Transforms in the Timeline

In the DaVinci Resolve 19 Reference Manual:
Chapter 49 Titles, Generators, and Stills
Chapter 50 Compositing and Transforms in the Timeline

Why was it removed? It is now just mentioned in Cut Page chapter
Is there some other document with current manual for the Speed Editor?

All the panels were removed from the 19 manual with the intention of having separate manuals for each.

This has happened for many of the panels, and those docs can be found here:

The Speed Editor manual has not yet happened, so I'd recommend using the Resolve 18 manual for now, if you need that info. The Resolve 18 manual is also available at the link above. Here's a direct link:

While I'm groping to find useful documentation on the DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor, can anyone tell me how to access the functions that are on the "face" of the keys? E.g. ("Smart/Insert" "Clip") and ("Trans" "Title"). How do you access "Clip" and "Title"?

I inquired into how you access the multiple functions of some keys (e.g. Split/Move). My inquiry has not yet been posted. But I did find this on page 961 of the "18 Reference Manual" so I answer my own inquiry.

Using the Speed Editor Keys
To maximize the functionality of all the keys on this reduced-sized edit controller, there are four
different finger actions used to modify a key’s commands:
— Press: A short tap to the key and release, as if you were typing.
— Double Press: Two short taps to the key and release. The double press triggers the secondary
function of the key that is written on the lower side of the keycap.
— Press and Hold: Tap the key and hold it down.
— Double Press and Hold: One short tap, and then tap again and hold the key down.

Kind of bizarre they would remove documentation from the most recent documentation before they have replacement documentation to refer to. And a 4000+ page .pdf document is pretty unwieldy, especially when it comes to searches. And there are no bookmarks for the chapters so you have to grope by binary search. Amazing!

If anyone needs it, I've extracted just the Speed Editor and Editor Keyboard pages from the DR User Manual and made them available for download via my Dropbox account. Here's the download link: https://tinyurl.com/SpeedEditorManual
