19.1 N-RAW footage appearing magenta at quarter res quality
Posted: Tue Nov 12, 2024 5:07 pmI just updated to 19.1 and updated my Nvidia studio driver to 566.14 which came out today.
Upon reloading a project I noticed all of my N-RAW footage was magenta. No color management settings affected the look (it's strongly magenta as if the other two color channels are nearly inactive). After much tinkering I finally figured out if I have the camera RAW setting set to Nikon RAW and the decode quality to quarter res, that's what makes all the footage go magenta
SOMETIMES if I change the RAW profile to something else like ARRI or Canon quarter res will display normally (well, with slightly different colors since it's a different profile). But other time quarter res will also appear purple with different RAW profiles.
I tried changing my timeline resolution, my desktop resolution, and timeline playback resolution to different settings and none of that seemed to affect anything (I'm editing 8K footage on an 8K monitor in an 8K timeline).
So anyway, something janky is going on with RAW decode quality settings.
As a side note, I've always found it very strange that the Save button for project settings remains greyed out even if I change the RAW decode profile. I have to change one of the settings below it (like decode quality or decode using) in order to be able to actually save the changes.
It's also weird that even though I always use the Nikon RAW decode profile, whenever I open the menu it frequently defaults back to ARRI - or at least the menu SHOWS ARRI (or perhaps whatever is alphabetically at the top of the list which is always ARRI) - even though ARRI is not actually selected. All I'm saying is the RAW decode settings in the project settings menu does not function like other menu settings with the strange defaulting and inability to hit save until only certain settings are changed.
