Does anyone know how to fix the DaVinci Control Panels Setup app? I get an error when I try to open it.

Here's what the error says:

“DaVinci Control Panels Setup.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. This file was downloaded on an unknown date.

This error appears no matter how I try to open the app. I get the error when I double click on it in finder. I also get the error when I try to open it from DaVinci Resolve Studio 19.

Here are all the details:
OS: macOS 15.1 (24B2082)
CPU: M4 Pro
DaVinci Resolve 19.1 Studio

I got this error using Resolve 19.0. And I installed 19.1 a few minutes ago. With both versions I saw this error.

My control panels setup app works, but my mini panel is jumping in and out from USB connection every ~ second....

I could upload my panel setup app if you want to try...

Best regards

Are you using Resolve from the BMD web site, or Resolve from the Apple App Store?

If you are using Resolve from the BMD web site, then the DaVinci Control Panels Setup.app will be in the Mac Applications - DaVinci Resolve folder. It should have the same date as the Monitor and DaVinci Resolve apps. And the 19.1 control panels setup size should be 697.8 MB.

If your control panel app doesn't have the same date as the other apps, Trash it, and run the Resolve 19.1 installer again, and it should install the current control panel app.

Today, I found a solution. I needed to uninstall DaVinci Resolve Studio, and re-install it. Here's the exact procedure I used:

  1. uninstall DaVinci Resolve using the "uninstall" application. I found it in the DaVinci Resolve folder (in Applications)
  2. reboot (I needed to reboot to install macOS updates; this step might not be needed but it's what I did)
  3. install the latest version DaVinci Resolve Studio (downloaded from blackmagicdesign.com)

After that, the DaVinci Control Panels Setup app started working again.

Here's some background about the original situation:

  • I downloaded the software from blackmagicdesign.com
  • In finder, the file modification date for all apps in the DaVinci Resolve folder were the same

I'm not sure what the problem was.

By the way, my original goal was to connect the speed editor to my mac using Bluetooth. I was able to use the DaVinci Control Panels Setup app to factory reset the speed editor. To factory reset, I plugged in the speed editor using a USB cable. I clicked the factory reset button. Then I unplugged the USB cable. At that point, I was able to pair the speed editor my the mac mini :)
