target tracks - creating unwanted new ones on an edit.

This is driving me nuts and creating unnecessary work. Something has changed in the timeline and the way it behaves. If I target and patch the tracks as I want them (according to the source) and then deselect those tracks (In other words, I want to create a vision only or audio only edit), when I overwrite from the source, it creates new tracks at which the unwanted audio or vision is sent to. WHY?? Please treat us like pro editors. It makes the assumption that surely we meant to add audio or vision in this edit so let's create new tracks and send the audio or vision to those. NO!! Put it back to the way it was. I'm forever having to delete unwanted audio or vision.

19.1 has indeed brought changes on this front.

Try going to the Edit menu and at the bottom under Edit Options, uncheck Automatically Create Tracks on Edit.

Unfortunately, tracks are still created when pasting clips or dragging clips from the bin.

Yeah, I think that only applies coming from the Source Monitor.

The behavior from the bin hasn't changed. We always got every track. Loading into the Source Viewer first now gives you a way around that.

Thanks Jim for the tip on the edit options. That works. Appreciate it.
