Multicam clip issue after updateing to 19.1

PostTue Nov 26, 2024 3:02 pm

Prior to 19.1 I could right click on a mulitcam clip audio and select JUST the audio from the other clip.
So if say angle two had the best audio I could right clip on each clips audio and change just the audio.
Now since 19.1 this does not work anymore and it's super annoying...

I believe there was a similar post on this recently. I recommend approaching Multicam a bit differently.

1. Create the Multicam using only camera media.
2. Add the Multicam to a timeline.
3. Add the audio you want to hear under the Multicam clip and sync it up.
4. Disable the audio portion of the Multicam.

This makes mixing in Fairlight down the line a lot easier. ;)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I edit the way Jim suggests but I have no problem selecting audio or video angles with latest release.

I can do it in 19.1 if I unlink the clips.
The prior behavior was I could right click on the audio portion whether the clip was linked or not and change the audio angle. That's the part that seems to be gone now.

In my fishing videos, I will switch the angle to the front one to show a hookset and then switch back to the rear angle. The rear angle is a camera on my hat and that has the best audio so I want the front angle to user that as well sometimes and you have to manually switch the one you want and prior like I said it was a piece of cake as you could simply right click on the audio track and switch the angle and it would just switch the audio NOT the whole clip. Now I have to unlink all the clips adjust the audio angle as needed and then link all the clips again or it makes editing a pain when you need to do cuts if they are not linked.

When you start the multicam edit just select to switch video only, then right click on the audio track and select the angle you want. It will stay on that track throughout the edit as only the video track will be edited. It is unfortunate that by default the selection is video + audio ( the middle selection on the multicam preview screen. Just select the one to the left for video only ) Select your hat audio and it will stay there. If you want to switch of course use the middle selection but then you will have to right click on audio to change. It works this way for me.
