Template and its materials

PostTue Nov 26, 2024 3:31 pm

I'm trying to figure out how templates work.

Components of each of my episode:
1. Intro-part one: a short clip that is in the format of movie. Same for every episode.
2. Intro-part two: a summary clip (dialogue audio + video + background music). Dialogue and video changes for every episode. Background music stays the same.
3. Intro-part three: a still image+music. Same for every episode.

4. Interview: three cam+two mic

5. Outro-part one: a short clip that is in the format of movie. Same for every episode.
6. Outro-part two: guest name card in still image. changes in every episode.
7. Outro-part three: credit. An image with the transformation (rolling credit).
(All three parts of the outro need to maintain their relative position in the timeline so they work with the background music.)

My questions:
1. Should my template only be built for the 4. Interview, the Multicam interview? And when I'm done with the Multicam interview, I then drag the intro/outro components to the timeline afterwards?
2. If I do so, I will have to manually adjust the position for the outro parts.
3. Is it possible for the outro parts to be in the timeline already in a "locked" relative position?
4. What would be better solution?

Thank you very much!

You could create templates for each scene as a separate timeline within Resolve. Leave the title media and bumpers and graphics in place, and then just change everything else.

As you create each new episode, open up the Template session and save-as using a new name (like "show_episode4_date"). Import the media and start working.

There are a lot of different ways to work and organize for different kinds of edit sessions, and there isn't necessarily one "best" way to do it. Whatever works for you is right -- and it may take a few weeks or even months to fine-tune the process.
