Navigating color page timeline

PostTue Nov 26, 2024 5:48 pm

Hi,
I would love to see a more friendly navigation in color page timeline.
For example: Everytime when I select some specific frame on edit page, and then jump to color page, Davinci always select the highest track, and never stay in place. Also if I want to choose my shot on the timeline, it's choosing the first frame of shot - not from the place I leave my line.
It would be great if timeline on color page behave more like "fixed playhead" on edit page. But it always jump out of screen, left or right edge of my screen. It always cost many time to catch the rabbit, or some hide and seek play.

I think your best option will be to understand how things work and go with it.

One of the 'rules' that Resolve follows is that the playhead doesn't move when you switch pages. That's a good rule. Some of what you want would violate that rule. I don't think that's a good idea.

The other 'rule' is that when you switch pages, the topmost clip becomes 'selected'. This makes sense, and should also not change.

A third 'rule' is that that clip selection on Cut or Edit will not matter, because if it did, Resolve would have to violate the first two rules...and that would be bad. :(

One good idea that I've seen is to add an option to the right click menu. Open in Color Page. We currently have an Open in Fusion Page, so expanding that to Color makes sense. This is kind of a special operation, telling Resolve (just this one time) to ignore the 'rules' and do pretty much what you're looking for.

There might already be a Feature Request for this, if you care to try a Search and add your vote.

The way to handle that is to Disable a track by click on the V1, V2, etc.. This will 'select' the topmost clip under the Disabled track without moving the playhead.
