I am not a beginner in video & audio production and have ten plus years of experience intensive working with Adobe, Avid, Final Cut, etc., products.
I was attracted to the DaVinci Resolve product for a number of reasons and the ability to pay once and use all updates for free was one of the reasons why I paid attention to DaVinci Resolve.
Problems began at very first step of my acquaintance with the DaVinci Resolve product. I carefully studied the difference between the free and paid versions and decided to try the free version first.
Unfortunately, my Sony PXW-Z200 footage loaded only the audio part, while the audio did not play either. This limitation was not mentioned for in the free version.
PXW-Z90 footage worked video and audio, but after several initial editing steps a message appeared that I had reached the limit of the free version (???).
I decided that all these problems would be solved in the paid version and decided to buy DaVinci Resolve Studio directly from the company's website.
I registered on web site and received a notification about the need to confirm my e-mail. The e-mail confirmation link gave a message about an unknown error and the impossibility of authorization. But nevertheless, the login worked and I was able to enter the site as a registered user.
Next step, I tried to buy DaVinci Resolve Studio. On the payment page it is indicated that it is not necessary to have a PayPal account - you can pay with a credit card if you click on the card picture. But this is a common image for PayPal and credit card and is not separately image or image map for credit card only, and you can only click on it.
After filling out the payment part, the site went to the PayPal page, after which it returned with the same unknown error.
However, a few minutes later, a message from PayPal came to my email about the payment made with the transaction and invoice numbers.
A few hours later, I received a text message from credit card company about withdrawal of the mentioned amount through the PayPal.
That was the end of it. Several days have passed already, I did not receive nothing - nor product, nor invoice, nor authorization keys. All my attempts to contact the company support team are useless.
They do not respond to the support email provided on the site and in the PayPal service.
I filled out a support request form on the website and received a formal response that I had to order the product not through the website, but through a reseller.
I tried to use the support phone as well. As a result, the agent told me that they do not have any information in the system. This cost me an additional several dozen of dollars, because they do not use a toll-free phone to contact with customers.
Yes, I can order this product from reseller, but I already paid and don't want pay twice.
Otherside, if it website so buggy in basic functionality without any QA process, I can imagine how the product will buggy and how useless it prod support.
As a result, I spent my money, my time, got stress, and nothing else. The money was not returned and it is unknown whether it will be returned.
All I can do is wait a few more days and file a complaints report with Better Business Bureau about this case.
