Thanks for your comments and help - I ended up working it out in the end.
If anyone else wants to do a similar thing, then this is how you go about it, and it's actually not that complicated.
The text and grey box are controlled by two modifiers, Path2_1 and Path3_1. If you select these in the modifiers tab of the main text node, you will be able to rotate them by -90 degrees, which means they are travelling downwards. Now you will have to realign their positions using the centre tools in the same menu so that they come together to the same place. That's it - however if you are particular then you might want to play around with the timing and opacity keyframes as these will be out if you are positioning the new box in the lower parts of the frame. Once you have it adjusted you can then fine tune the position in the edit page using the general transform settings.
