Inserting As Compound Clip

Sorry if this is addressed somewhere -- I've been looking hard and can't find this anywhere and it's driving me a bit nuts. Out of nowhere (maybe with recent update), Resolve has automatically switched to inserted clips from the viewer into the timeline as compound clips. I do not like this behaviour at all. After inserting, I have to now right click and decompose before I can keep working. Super annoying. How do I stop this behaviour???? I want to use compound clips when I assign/want them, not automatically anywhere. I've looked through menu items, options, editing preferences, timeline options, etc. and don't see anything obvious to deal with this.
Any thoughts?
Much appreciated!!

I guess you are inserting clips from a timeline in the source viewer ?!
Edit Menu > Edit Options > Decompose Compound Clips on edit.

As far as I know the compound clips are added to the media pool as other clips, for re-use and if you drag already made compound clips to the timeline that is what they will be. Are you sure you are not dragging to timeline what is already a compound clip?
As for recent changes, in Resolve 19.1 they made these changes.

You're loading a
clip into the viewer? Not a timeline? Not a Compound clip? A regular
clip?
