Speed editor jog wheel issue

I am having an issue with the jog wheel on my speed editor. After I use it to move the play head to a specific position and let go of the wheel, the play head will continue to randomly move frames. Pressing the play/stop bar does not help. I suspect it is a physical issue with the wheel itself. Has anyone had this issue and is there any way to service/ repair the jog wheel?

Does the device sit leveled on your desk? I had this issue when I raised it with a piece of wood to sit at a certain angle (felt more comfortable).
