Davinci Resolve Crashes - video transition related

Hello,

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't know how to upload a crash log or anything, so I'll need help to do that.

I have been using Davinci Resolve 18.6 for about 5 months. I updated to 19 maybe about a month ago, and I have the latest version 19.1 now. Everything was running fine until today. When scrolling through video transitions Davinci freezes then unexpectedly quits. It's happened 5-6 times and I can recreate the crash.

This is beyond frustrating because the windows update in September fried a bunch of stuff and I had to reinstall windows, then I was running low on memory so I upgraded, now I've reverted back to my old memory to make sure that wasn't the cause, but the amount of time I've spent troubleshooting various issues is just ridiculous. If it's not one thing it's the other.

My timelines are very long and deep (50 tracks with a lot of transitions and different media files).

My biggest frustration is I'm about 90% done with this project, but I can no longer work on it because of this.

Would love some help to figure out what's going on so I can get back to working on my project.

If you need any additional information please let me know.

Thank you,
Kevin

Try this, as often suggested by Dwaine:

"Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\bbrow\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

Rename the Preferences folder to Preferences.old

Now Resolve should start.

It will have all the Resolve preferences set to default values.

If you had more than the standard default "Local Database" project library, those will not be shown. You'll need select the "Add Project Library" button and then select the "Connect" item, then enter the name and location of the project library(s). You can find that info in the dblist.conf file in the Preferences.old folder.

And if you had any other Resolve Preferences items modified from their default values, you'll need to modify those again as desired."

If that doesn't help, post log and NFO, as described in the FAQs above here.
