With all due respect, Blackmagic, Fairlight in DaVinci is a nightmare. Working with it is pure torture.

Did no one at your company think about at least making the keyframe interface a little more consistent with the one in the Edit tab? Fairlight is overly complicated and completely unintuitive. Even the simplest task, like changing frequency, feels like a struggle.

I love editing video in DaVinci, but when it comes to audio, it's frustrating. Why is there no basic option to add keyframes to EQ in the Edit tab? It really feels like that should be a feature.

It's just a mess.

You may want to consider some quality time with BMD's training resources, it's pretty useful for getting up to speed with the different pages in Resolve.

Sorry, Jim, but nobody is 'reading' the manual. It's just an encyclopedia. But I suppose that was both meant to be

Even Ferraris use the standard setup for things like shifter, steering wheel, pedal placement. Resolve does so in many respects but noticeably bucks the de facto standard in others. Hopefully they’ll work on that at some point.

I believe Uli is saying people refer to it but don’t read it cover to cover as one would a book. Sounds like you two agree and perhaps you might be clearer by telling people to refer to the manual rather than read it.

I dont use fairlight that much because its too complicated for what I need, but I would be really thankful for audio keyframes in the edit page. So people like me (or maybe the OP) who dont want to deepdive into it, can atleast have that. I find keyframing just a lot simpler and easier to adjust than using automation for sound design. And giving us that would already open so many possibilities.

PS just to be clear: but I dont think fairlight is a disaster.

So, to make it very clear to newcomers: there are pretty good tutorials for free, including those for Fairlight. They don't only teach you just the handling, but nomenclature as well. After that, you are equipped with the right expressions to search in that encyclopaedia, called a manual. And if you hit the right chapter, there are usually not only short explanations, but even examples of use cases for many specific features. That's why it has 4K pages.

When I worked in the industry with Softimage (a 3D software), long before there were huge downloads or PDFs on CD, its manual needed about 3 feet on the shelf. There were no free tutorials at all, only expensive personal tutors. Now, there's progress!

PS, just to be clear: I don't think Fairlight is a disaster.
Logic Pro is better in some aspects, but it has one huge disadvantage for those who don't like Apple.

Just for exemple, right now I can hear the FX send reverb on one track (I draw the automation) in Fairlight. But can't hear it in EDIT mode (it was working 20 min ago). It's just one of the bugs amongst many others.
