Output Problems To HDMI Monitor Through UltraStudio Mini 4K

PostMon Apr 07, 2025 9:11 pm

New set up with MacStudio M3 Ultra and UltraStudio Mini 4K. Running Desktop Video 14.3 since I had installation problems with 14.5 and tech support advised that I downgrade to 14.3

Most recent version of Resolve 19 (haven't installed beta 20 yet)

Going Thunderbolt to UltraStudio and HDMI to LG OLED TV which has been professionally calibrated.

My prior set up was a 2019 MacPro with Decklink card and HDMI to the LG. No problems at all in display.

Video display from PremierePro is fine.

However, from Resolve my video display on the LG looks as if a color channel is missing or even as if the output is RGB rather than YCrCb. The problem exists whether HDR or SDR video. If I output HDR, my LG indicates it has switched to HDR. Note that the display on the UltraStudio is correct whether from PremierePro or Resolve.

From Resolve even when the LG screen should be black - no video - it is red. But, as I said, all functions properly in PremierePro.

I thought there might have been a toggle RGB-YCrCb in Resolve preferences or project settings, but can' find anything. And, as I said, it happens on every Resolve project.

Thanks for any advice.

Same HDMI cable as before?
Have you tried changing bit depth to 8/10/12bit?
Monitor resolution to HD/UHD?
Going between video/data levels?
Does the signal go straight from the ultra studio to the TV? or is there a lutbox/booster/splitter in the chain?

What seemed to fix it was to switch output from 3820x2180 to 4096x2180 DCI with Full levels. Then displayed normally. Was not the case with the MacPro + Decklink card. Always set ouput to UHD since it was shot UHD and edited in UHD timeline. Weird but since it works I'm just going say case solved.
