Projection Map or Adjustmet Clip using a Projector?

Attached is a Frame still of a Clip I want to project using a projector onto a wall

My question stems from the fact that I do not have a projector at the moment, so I am trying to understand how this would look as opposed to on a monitor.

I only want to show the image inside the circle on the screen. I have used an adjustment layer over the clip to create the circle. As the outside is black, will this project on the screen as white light?
Ideally what I would like is to have only the light shine inside the circle and the black have no light of any kind.

Will creating a projection Map do the same thing in this situation, or will it be able to eliminate the light where the black colour is?

The black will not project.

A video projector just displays the image exactly the same as a monitor, except the brightness and contrast are affected by the ambient light in the room.

So in a room with no ambient light the black with be black like the attached image?

Yes, I'm sure it's me not explaining myself well.
Ideally, I just want to display what is inside the circle through the projector. As the outside of the circle is black, if the background surface is not 100% black with no ambient light there will be at the very least a faint black rectangle the shape of the 3840x2160 ratio.

There is not.

OK. I think this explains better what I am trying to ask.
Below is an image of a video projected onto a wall. They have used projection mapping to follow the edges of the back wall so the video only shows on the wall. See 1st image

When I set up projection mapping in Davinci (2nd image), the mapped out area is black. Without a projector, it's hard for me to tell, but from what has been said here, this will show as black and not neutral like the 1st image.

Then again, maybe I am missing a step in Davinci/Fusion

I'm not familiar with the technology of Projector Mapping.

But for normal projectors, you will get some light where those black (or even transparent) sections are. There's no way to avoid it. Projectors just aren't capable of projecting absolutely "zero" light to an area of image. (Unless they're off.)

You keep asking the same question. The projector will project the entire rectangular image. The darkness of the area outside the circle is a function of the projector, not the source file. The black area will project with a very small amount of light, depending upon the projector used.

You can try physically masking off that area by creating a cardboard (or thin sheet metal or whatnot) stencil and placing it in front of the projector. Otherwise, as others have said, you probably will get a some dim light spill as most projectors can't turn black pixels completely off due to how projector technically works. Some might be able to (like laser projectors??? not sure about that) but most regular ones can't.

The only way to get "no light" from any projector I've ever seen is to turn it off.
