Major Bug in Resolve 20

PostThu Apr 10, 2025 11:12 pm

When using Resolve in exclusive fullscreen mode (via the maximize button in the top right) I don't get any right-click-menus anymore. Almost feels like they appear invisibly below the main window, with a wrong z-depth. When I put Resolve in windowed fullscreen (with ctrl+F13) everything is fine. In normal windowed mode this problem also does not exist. Another symptom is a pretty long blackout of the whole UI when entering exclusive fullscreen mode.

Speaking of UI blackouts, this problem has been existing for me since Resolve 19 where the UI would just randomly flicker black, mostly when moving the mouse. In Resolve 20 this problem got even much worse for me with very frequent black flickers, especially when moving between cut, edit, color, etc. pages. Feels like it's retriggering exclusive fullscreen on every page switch. After performing a raindance in the Nvidia control panel and fiddling around with all kinds of different combinations of V-sync, G-sync and framrate capping settings I managed to get rid of the flickering for now but this really needs to be solved.

Granted, some of the problems could also be associated with the current Nvidia drivers as they are also pretty flawed for the last six releases or so. The problem with missing right klick menus is exclusive for Resolve 20 though so I suspect it's not the drivers fault this time. I also tried en- and disabling Windows Multiplane overlay to no avail.

I am on version 572.83 Studio with an RTX 4090 (One 3440x1440 GUI monitor via displayport, one 4k GUI monitor also via displayport, one 1080p projector via HDMI and another 4k reference monitor via a Decklink 4k)
OS Windows 11 Pro 24H2
128GB Ram
AMD 7950X 3D

Thankful for any hints or ideas how to fix this problem.

I seem to remember that the layout can get confused and doing a reset layout may help.

Thanks for the tip, Joe but I've long tried that and it does not help.
I am, however, shure now that the context menu appears behind the main window and I can even recall that this already, albeit very rarely, happened in 19.
