16x9 Sequences (compound clip) to 1x1 Sequence - Export Err

So I cant find this anywhere.

I'm trying to export out a 16x9 sequence in a 1x1 frame with black bars on the top and bottom.. I have the 16x9 sequence with some changes to the zoom and position, so I ended up making compound clips to keep the correct scales and moved it to a 1x1 sequence.. the problem is when I go to export, it 'loses' the 16x9 frame and acts like it's not even a thing. Any help with this?

I'll include two screenshots of how it looks before export and then how it looks when exporting.

Thanks in advance! ( I'm doing it this way because I have a lot of clips to export and I know ill need to make changes to these clips - color and sound.. so I want to keep them easily editable.)

The first approach I would have tried is skipping the Compounds and just exporting to a square resolution. Resolve will automatically add the black.

You could probably set up this in timeline settings. Maybe duplicate your working timeline first, just in case. But in timeline settings set up timeline working format resolution to be your original 16:9 no resizing so you can position the clip and for output tab set your square resolution. Something like this.

Not sure if that is what you want. Also you can use square overlay for the viewer to see what you are cropping until you do it at the end.

I would not be nesting anything myself, because it just adds additional complications.

Also fusion offers more controls and better overview of what is happening to resolution in clips, so if you want to you can do it there as well. But timeline settings should offer the main set of option for what you said you need.

Jim, I did try it this way by setting this in the 'Export Tab' but couldn't get the right format, even when changing the Mismashed Resolution

Kruno, THIS WORKED WONDERS. Thanks so much for this advice. I don't know why I couldn't figure that out, but changing the settings in the 'Timeline Settings' really helped. It's easy to edit and change the size of things now in the original 16x9 format while keeping the 1x1 ratio. I appreciate it!
