No Auto Align on Fairlight page?

PostWed Apr 16, 2025 2:42 pm

I've got audio and video clips that I can select on the Edit page and Auto-Align no problem.
I cannot, however, seem to do the same operation on the same clips in the Fairlight page. After selecting the clips, the right click menu does not contain Auto Align.

Why do I want to do this in the Fairlight page? Because layered audio does not work in the edit page - so when I Auto-Align an audio clip in the edit page, it moves into position and overwrites other audio on that track.

So, yes, I can create another audio track on the Edit page and then all is well, but I just thought I'd ask to see if I'm missing something - since it seems like syncing audio and video is a Fairlight operation, but Auto Align doesn't seem to exist there.

Thanks

Figured I'd post a reply to my own post in case others are looking for this. I learned that you really don't need Auto Align (for timecode base clips) because you can use "Clip | Move to embedded timecode". It's simple enough to set your timeline's start timecode and then plop everything in place using that command -- and maybe audio engineers would never "auto align" based on waveform (unless, of course, they have their editor hats on and happen to be on the edit page :-))
