Preview Rendering for Performance

Hi,
Ive been using DaVinci Resolve for a few years now having left Adobe in the dust.
One thing Im still uncertain of is if there is a way to create temporary preview versions of the clips on my timeline. In Premiere you just hit Enter and it will do this for all the clips. It's crucial for fast playback on lower end computers. Ive asked around in other places and have been told No, you cannot do this in Resolve.
I use RSMB a lot and it quickly becomes quite heavy even for basic light use on a single clip with no other plugins. I want to be able to make preview of the fx so I can still work in realtime. I just cannot for the life of me find a way to make it work in this editor.
Looking around in the Playback menu, I see several options that sound like they're related, but I've had zero luck with them.
- Setting Render Cache to Smart, User or None seems to make no difference.
- Fusion Memory Cache seems to make no difference (in Fusion).
- Setting Timeline Playback Resolution to Half or Quarter seems to make no difference.
- Use Optimized Media If Available - this is always on
Can anyone confirm if DaVinci Resolve really does not have this ability? We're nearly to version 20. I would hope something has at least been considered for this feature/solution.
Is it right in front of my face and I'm just not seeing it?
Thanks.
