Descript & Multicam

So let me paint a quandary picture for y'all:

I have a client who I’m working on an ongoing project with. This client is obsessed with Descript (actually a pretty powerful platform for what it is). We currently have 45+ interviews loaded in there, and my client is breaking these interviews down for me. Kind of like my assistant editor. They have multiple topics, and are essentially making multiple “projects” with various interviews.

My problem is that they only have the A camera in descript, and all these interviews have multiple angles and audio sources.

I’ve spent almost a full day attempting to figure out a workflow for this: one where I can export the XML from Descript, and somehow sync his Descript “projects” with my multicam projects. Is there ANY way whatsoever to do this? I’ve tried multiple methods (sync from bin, rebuild multicam clip, etc. etc.) but it’s just not working out for me.

Before I spend any more time... is this even possible?

I think you're really gonna like the new AI IntelliScript feature in the 20 Beta. ;)

I'm late to the party on this one, but the trick with Descript is to create a single timeline with your Multicam inside of it, then create a bin with only that reference timeline in it.

As long as the timecode on the timeline matches the timecode in the clip Descript references, you can import the XML and tell Resolve to only search that one bin. It should (mind you, Descript can be buggy and they're always changing things in it) find that timeline and make the appropriate cuts. Then decompose those timeline cuts to the Multicam and you're good to go.
