for the love of all the code that has been written... what does it do?

I got nothing in the manual, it has been there for decades, and every time i try to understand what it does, it fails me....

if you press it, it "insert features" in teh middle of the image and you cannot do anything with that.

for a feature that has been there for 20 years and never completed... that it has to be a record...

You write in unclear manner, so I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Is this what you mean?

If that is what you mean, its a great feature to manually help the tracker by setting and excluding tracking point. Particularly useful when doing more interactive tracking as the feature suggesting, using classical tracker. I use it all that time.

The “classic” image stabilizer controls available in DaVinci Resolve version 12.5 and earlier are still available, simply select “Classic Stabilizer” from the option menu of the Tracker palette. Classic image stabilization in DaVinci Resolve consists of three steps. First, you analyze the clip. Second, you choose the Stabilization settings you want to use. Third, you click Stabilize to calculate the result.

When analyzing the clip, you can choose to use either the default Cloud Tracker, which automatically finds as many trackable points as possible throughout the image and calculates stabilization based on all of them, or you can use the Point Tracker, which lets you manually place one or more individual crosshairs on image features that you select.

If that is not what you mean. Please be more clear and post some screenshots for reference.

I just had a play with it Walter. In my quick test, I took a piece footage and added a circle power window in its default position, enabled the window tracker's interactive mode (at which point it analysed the window content and added tracker points), pressed 'Set Point' ... and two additional tracker points were added at the centre of the image. I then reset the node, again added a circle power window, but this time moved it to cover a different portion of the image, enabled interactive mode (tracker points auto added), then tried 'Set Point' again... it added the exact same two additional tracker points at the centre of the image, now outside of the power window.

Per Kruno's manual quote, it sounds like (for me) it's targeting the centre of the image by default (because my cursor is obviously never actually targeting anything, its always on the 'Set Point' button itself when I press it)... presumably the Advanced Panel has a 'Set Point' button or is able to target via another cursor? ... but that's above my pay grade. :)

That’s teh point, it add useless points in the middle of the screen… they do nothing to hep tracking….

It would be better if it turns the mouse in a brush and you can brush what you want to be part of the analisys….

Apologize, even after all those years my English still sucks!

I. Never tried with the panel, but that seems a bit asinine…. Why I cannot use the mouse?

Yep, it's definitely a pretty odd choice of function to feature lock to the Advanced panel ... and why even have the 'Set Point' button control in the UI if its not actually usable from the UI? Sadly there's no Advanced panel in my foreseeable future so I will never know this function's joy. ;)
