Blackmagic cloud server - on LAN?

Can I use a generic file server on the LAN as a Blackmagic cloud server - or is the server proprietary to Blackmagic?

You mean the cloud service or the shared storage server?

I noticed in version 20 there are Blackmagic Cloud settings in Project settings. It facilitates automatic syncing and proxy generation. But it looks like it requires internet connection and an account on Blackmagic Cloud. It would be helpful if these features could be utilized on a local IP file server. Media sharing would be automatic and happen in the background for multi user projects. A local network can be slow especially if it is extended with VPN tunnels over the internet.
