Currently, my projects do not allow me to test the beta versions. What I do wonder, between all the update and AI violence, what seems to be the most stable version of DR at the moment?

Oh well, more than 300 views and no one?? Does that mean that DR does not have a stable version?

I think it varies greatly depending on your OS, hardware, drivers, how you use it/workflow. My guess is 17.4.6, 18.6.4 or 18.6.6. I'm currently on 19.1.4, (which has been fine for me) and will be there until 20 is several revisions out of beta (maybe 20.4.x or so).

i use workstations purpose built for Resolve, and nothing but Resolve runs on them, v19.1.4 delivers films to tier1 Qc flawlessly, but we only conform, grade, master, no story editing, no fairlight, minimal fusion (we have Nuke for that)

just used 20.0b1 for delivering plates to a volume stage yesterday, no issues atall for that

your mileage may differ if you are on a gamer machine, story editing, doing VFX and moGFX, and mixing - your experience may be very diffrent from mine

there's reasons we devoted resources to machines that are stable and compentent, we see a reasonable RoI on the expence, that's a harder mountain climb for the creators that typicaly see a lower RoI

end game? very much hardware dependant, maybe tell us about your use case, deliver requirments, and cleint expecations

Normally my setup should be optimal for the recent versions of DR. As far as workflow is concerned, as has been mentioned many times on this forum... it is striking how we as users resign ourselves to the fact that DR (BM) is also guilty of piling up (AI) gadgets in the software and this only to be ahead of the competition or to overtake it.
In doing so, the purpose (stable video editing and color correction software) of DR is often exceeded or neglected. Progress is ok as long as you don't drown in the pursuit of... Well, we all know it.

To me, Fairlight is unusable for pro audio work. I use other audio software and bring it back into DR. Fusion... I Still prefer AE, it is more stable and gets the job done. But hey, that's just me.

I'll give 19.1.4 a try and hope for the best.

we have scores of machines at Picture Shop and we use 19.1.4, very stable. (90% of the machines are Rocky Linux)

Do note, 50 series is only supported in V20 Beta.

I imagine V17/18 will be the same or worse

While I have seen specific bugs with specific features over the years, I've never noticed any significant difference in overall stability with any Resolve version since I started using it at version 12.

If you can't use 20, use 19.1.4.

The final version of 18 is the only one I trust. 19 never got ironed out and now 20 is like a hostel bed in NY's upper west side.
