Hello.
I am in the middle of a large documentary project and, well, upgraded to a beta version when, perhaps, I shouldn't have....
I created a new timeline in my project, a short ~2min video with 4 audio tracks to test the AI Audio Assistant. I'm not sure if it actually finished running but when it exited, the video wouldn't play and it eventually crashed. Now, the project won't open. I attempted a fresh install and have some errors saying my .gallery stills is missing and something about the cache folder location needs to be updated... Black screen, no video will play. So, I closed and now I'm back to the project freezing at 94% when attempting to open...Help please!

Update:
I've managed to get the project to load and run by turning off my wifi. If I reenable wifi, the project stops playing. What is it about wifi that could be causing problems?
Anyone else have issues like this?

Honestly? I would go back to the most recent version of Resolve 19 and finish your documentary there (hopefully you have a backup of your project because the one you opened in v20 will not open in Resolve 19). If you hang around here long enough, you will hear from many experienced users that upgrading in the middle of a mission-critical project is never a good idea and upgrading to a beta software makes it even worse.

It's great advice and I'm torn. I did backup my project by then did a lot of work in V20 Beta 1 without issue.... I would loose a good bit of work but have it working well enough now, again, that I might be fine to continue? I've used the beta's for years now without issue and took it for granted.
Anyway, it's a multi-year project (cycling from Ushuaia to Alaska) that is mostly selects timelines with a few videos for YouTube that are already made. Guess I'll keep making backups and continue on? Or would you advise to just revert back still, regardless?

That's a tough one to answer, Ryan. Given that the project spans years, it would be unreasonable to expect one to stay on the same version of Resolve for that entire time (assuming you could benefit from the new features released in the past few versions). I'd be concerned that some bug along the way might interfere with you being able to, for example, deliver to YouTube, etc. so I guess it depends on your timeframe. If you are going to be be working on this project six months from now when v20 is stabilized then perhaps you are ok with a beta release but make manual backups of projects regularly (outside the automatic backups) and be prepared for some unexpected crashing along the way. You might also want to stay away from some of the new features (or at least be prepared for the sorts of issues reported in this thread).

Others may have a different perspective on this, of course. Good luck - sounds like a fascinating project.

Add - the whole wifi thing is a bit odd - you don't have a NAS or some other storage device connected wirelessly, do you?
