i am very fascinated by the enormous potential offered by the new davinci resolve studio 20 beta 2.
i am a huge fan of photography, and you cannot imagine how many photographers or photography enthusiasts use the programme.
it would be very nice if some new feature of davinci resolve studio 20 would go in this direction, i.e. to create something that could unleash the creativity of the operator, maybe even thanks to artificial intelligence, for example, on the basis of the intelliscript to be able to order and optimize the photographs within a folder to make a presentation much more harmonious, it would be in my opinion a fantastic feature and of great help that would make the work much more interesting.
what do you think?
thank you very much bye marco

dear friend

DaVinci Resolve for Photography: Present and Future
It seems you've already intuited the incredible potential of DaVinci Resolve in the world of professional photography. Your enthusiasm is justified: there is indeed a growing number of photographers who are discovering the capabilities of this traditionally video-oriented software to enhance their photographic work.
Current State
DaVinci Resolve Studio 20 already offers powerful tools for photography:

Professional-level color grading that surpasses many dedicated photography software
The ability to create slideshows with sophisticated transitions
Integration of musical timeline with visual material
The recent automatic detection feature for markers based on musical rhythm

This last feature you mention is particularly innovative compared to competing software like Wondershare Filmora, specifically for the precision with which it detects musical beats.
Potential Evolutions for Photographers
Your ideas for future implementations are particularly interesting:

Intelligent organization through AI: A system that avoids sequences of too-similar images, creating visual variety in the presentation
Optimized management of different orientations: An algorithm that can elegantly handle transitions between horizontal and vertical photos, a recurring problem in photographic presentations
Complete synchronization automation: The ability to automatically distribute images between already detected musical markers, completing the entire sequence
Integration with IntelliScript: Leveraging DaVinci Resolve 20's recent AI technology to analyze photo content and suggest coherent narrative sequences

Vision for the Future
I think these features could materialize into a true "photography module" within DaVinci Resolve, which could include:

AI content analysis: Automatic categorization of photos by subject, dominant color, exposure
Narrative sequence suggestions: AI could propose a logical order to tell a story through images
Preset presentation styles: Specific templates for weddings, artistic portfolios, reportage, etc.
Emotional synchronization: Matching the mood of photos with appropriate musical sections

Feedback for the Development Team
The Blackmagic Design team is known for paying attention to user feedback. Your idea of leveraging the artificial intelligence already implemented in IntelliScript to optimize photographic workflows is absolutely valid.
I believe that an intelligent automation system like the one you propose, capable of analyzing images, detecting similarities and differences, and automatically distributing them along a pre-analyzed musical timeline, would represent an enormous competitive advantage for DaVinci Resolve in the professional photography market.
Given how AI technology is evolving in creative software, your proposals are not only feasible but probably represent the natural development direction for a comprehensive tool like DaVinci

I use Resolve for photography.
Create a project size big enough to handle the maximum width or height of the images (square if you have some of each landscape or portrait)
Put your images in single frames.
Go through and color correct, balance, Magic Mask for compositing, etc. for each image. Use shared nodes for groups that have similar exposure so you can adjust them all at once.
Export as PNG single frames (with Alpha if you need transparency).

Typically I will have a single project, a timeline of each batch of images delivered into a folder each. The main timeline will be the composited output of backgrounds and stills, usually done up with a soundtrack.
If you need to modify an image, just re-render that timeline to regenerate the stills, then re-render the main timeline to get the update.

I find it FAR easier (and better results) to use Resolve to generate the self-running ad displays that I'm often generating. Some of them are used for things like restaurant menus on big screens for customers to view, some are simple looped videos running in display cases.

For example, I can take 100 pics of food items, get them all into the same balance, and cycle them through the menu display. They can move, I can use Dynamic Zoom to make items "grow" in place. It looks extremely professional and it takes a fraction of the time wasted using, say, adobe products.

I have used Davinci for this also in the past, when given photos and images to add to the video footage. One positive for this is that its so nice to be able to make these changes in one software package without exporting and round tripping them and it is undoable too.

Enhancing DaVinci Resolve's Photography Features: Ideas for Future Development
I've been following the interesting discussions about photography workflows in DaVinci Resolve, and would like to share some thoughts on potential features that could improve this aspect of the software.
Improved Photo Organization and Sequencing
One feature I'd love to see is enhanced control over photo sequencing and organization. Specifically:

A more intuitive manual reordering system for photo sequences
AI-assisted sequencing that could analyze images and suggest harmonious arrangements based on color palette, composition, or subject matter
The ability to seamlessly switch between AI suggestions and manual adjustments
Smart transitions between photos with different visual characteristics

This kind of intelligent organization could be revolutionary, especially for creating photo presentations or slideshows. The AI could learn from manual adjustments to better understand personal preferences over time.
Better Mixed Format Handling
Another critical improvement would be more sophisticated handling of mixed photo formats:

Smart layout options for combining vertical and horizontal photos
Customizable borders, frames, and matting for different aspect ratios
Automatic composition suggestions for multi-photo layouts
Preservation of visual flow when displaying mixed formats

Additional Enhancements Worth Considering

Batch processing tools specifically designed for photographers
Advanced color grading presets optimized for photographic styles
Non-destructive photo editing with specialized photography tools
Integration with common photo management metadata standards

What do you all think about these suggestions? I'm curious what other photography-related features users would find valuable in future DaVinci Resolve updates.
I hope our ideas and viewpoints can inspire the development team and lead to new functionality that serves photographers better within the DaVinci ecosystem.
