Davinci resolve vs Capcut

When I post about DaVinci Resolve’s problems, there are always people who respond like this:

“You can’t use a knife meant for butchering cows to slaughter a chicken.” In other words, they’re calling it “overkill.”

Come on, stay on topic. Honestly, isn’t the whole point of the free version of DaVinci Resolve to attract more users? So why do people keep harping on about “overkill”?

In the past few years, the number of people editing videos has exploded thanks to YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. But has the number of DaVinci Resolve users really increased? It probably doesn’t even come close to CapCut.

People laugh at CapCut for lacking features compared to DaVinci Resolve, but in this golden age, why isn’t Resolve gaining more users?

Davinci Resolve – C grade Long Sword
CapCut – A grade Dagger

And you still call it “overkill”? What’s the point of having all those features in the free version of DaVinci Resolve if the user convenience is so lacking? Even though the basic features are available for free, everyone’s still paying to use CapCut.

And fix the forum already. It’s not some ancient relic-how is it still impossible to upload images directly? Does that even make sense?

This will be my last visit to the forum. I don’t think anything will improve no matter how much more I write here, so just do whatever you want.

(I'm paid user. Someone actually tried to pick an argument with me over this. Ridiculous.)

The reason Catgut has more users is because Resolve is for serious editors whereas Catgut is for any old idiot with a mobile phone used usually in portrait mode.

It's like saying Ford cars must be better than Rolls Royce because they sell more.

Incidentally the spelling mistake was deliberate.

This is about the only thing I can agree with in your post. phpBB is not the best choice for forum software for our use. Xenforo is a MUCH better option. Especially for a video based forum.

According to Peter Chamberlain, the product manager of Resolve, there are well over 5 million users...

While the way the OP phrases his arguments is unpleasant, the basic idea that Resolve isn’t yet a polished piece of software that’s up to the QUALITY of many other NLEs is still salient.

Resolve spent much of its life catering to a small group of experts. Its user base didn’t require things like good error messages because they had a support team and phone access to BMD - and DaVinci Systems before it - when anything went wrong.

That’s not the reality of the new user base. Eventually BMD will adjust. Right now it’s still growing pains time.

That has not been my experience at all. Resolve is a powerhouse for color grading, Fusion is incredible, however the Edit page has been severely neglected for a long time. A massive amount of my complaints about Resolve are specifically with the Edit page because I've found editing in Resolve to be a terrible experience. The new keyframe/spline editors are a step in the right direction and I hope this is a sign that more attention will be given to the Edit page in future updates.

It will be so much better when you return to CapCut and stop posting in these forums. I tried CapCut & laughed so hard as I removed it from my system! Just another editor for the novice. :D
