Hi, I have been using Resolve for several years and it was been great. But most recently I had issues with Resolve taking forever (shows 8 hours) to render a small 2-minute clip.

I have Resolve 19.1.4. Build 11

I also upgraded my GeForce GTX 1070 to the latest NVIDIA Studio Driver version 576.02 (released April 15, 2025).

Please HELP as I need to render something quickly. thank you in advance for your help.

There have been some reported problems with that driver which Nvidia has now replaced with a newer version. I had problems with it suggesting a missing codec. Went back to 572.16 and all is well again.

thanks so much. where do I get that version 572.16?

I went back to NVIDIA Studio Driver version 572.16 but it still takes forever for the rendering.

Any other suggestions please? Thanks in advance.

Your GPU is not especially powerful. You don't say what you're doing with the media. If you're using SuperScale 4x Enhanced, DepthMap, Magic Mask and some Temporal NR...yeah, it could take hours.

the same rendering two months ago took 5 minutes only vs now 8 hours. same computer, RAM, Graphics cards. nothing changed other slow rendering.

What source material? What kind of processing are you doing in the timeline (on the Edit page and in the node tree)? Are you changing speed at all? Are you using noise reduction or other temporal processing? What format are you trying to render out?

What happens if you render out to a mezzanine format like DNxHR HQX or 444? Bear in mind in Resolve 19.1.4, you can also now render out in ProRes 422HQ and ProRes 444, which can also make a good mezzanine format. We generally use 422LT for uploads to YouTube, because YouTube transcodes everything to VP9 or WebM and throws away the original uploaded file.

Are you willing to upload the project file for this video? That'd answer all of Marc and others' questions - other than what kind of media you're using that is.

Hi Joe Shapiro, this forum is not allowing me attach the .DRP file from the File -> Export Project. What to do?

Again, this video was rendering in less than a minute in the past with the same computer and video cards. No changes to the computer from previously. but now it's way too slow. thank you for your help.

That is not entirely correct. You said yourself that you had one change, which is upgrading drivers to a new version. Find out which version EXACTLY you had prior to upgrade (if you don't know take a look at Resolve's logs, it records which version of drivers is used every time it starts) and go back to that one using DDU (YouTube has number of good tutorials how to do that, like this one ).

Good advice. Graphics device drivers are kinda everything on Windows.

As far as attaching the drp - zip it first. That should fix it.

Besides the GPU drivers (no particular order):

• Look to see if any updates have taken place in apps or software that runs in the background, or if there’s been any Windows updates. Uninstall the apps/software and/or go back to prev versions; remove Win updates.

• Check the task manager detail view, sorted various ways (cpu, gpu, disk, gpu), and see if anything is competing with Resolve. If so, deal with the problem app(s).

• Run full “chkdsk c: /f /r /x” disk checks on all drives, and check disk speeds (can use the BlackMagic disk speed test), plus make sure there’s plenty of space (I like at least 30% free).

• Check temps of all SSD(s)/m.2(s), GPU(s), CPU, and any other relevant hardware.

They are not logs of videos you rendered, they are logs of Resolve's operation. They are text files that can be opened with any text editor and can be found at

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\logs

and

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\logs\LogArchive

where {username} is name of your account.

Search for occurrences of text NVIDIA GPU Driver: and you will see timestamp next to each one. That should help you backtrack chronologically which version you had when.
