Silent Crashes to Desktop

PostThu May 01, 2025 11:16 pm

Hi all, new here, I just started having major issues with DaVinci Resolve the last couple of days, especially after updating to anything above version 18. Anytime I interact with the timeline, it crashes. Sometimes I can edit clips and audio for 10+ minutes, or I can instantly get a crash. I tried to find anything in system events or even the log reports, and I see nothing. I have become very frustrated with the program at this point.

Here is a link to, I think, every log that is needed:

The most likely reasons are:

On Windows and Linux: You've got the wrong device driver for your video card. Resolve runs its graphics code on the GPU which is on your video card so it exercises the graphics driver much more than most apps. So your computer can seem fine but still have the wrong video device driver.

You've got a bad plugin installed. Plugins are programs too, and when Resolve runs them if they crash Resolve crashes as well. Turn off your plugins to see if that fixes it.

I have the most up-to-date drivers and no plugins installed for Resolve, as far as I know.

Need the Windows System Information in the form of a .NFO file, not a .txt file. In System Information, select File - Save and it will be saved in .NFO form.

Looks like at one point you had the ARM version of Resolve 19 loaded, which would be a non-starter, but that's not the current issue. Hopefully with a proper .NFO file, a clue will be provided.

Actually, you have RivaTuner installed, which causes crashing of Resolve AMD GPU systems.

Get rid of RivaTuner.

Edit: This was the problem, however, it does prevent me from viewing my PC FPS on my OSD, which is sad, and I hope to see it fixed at some point if possible.

Is there a list of software known to make Resolve crash?

Yeah, if software is known to make Resolve crash, I feel like it should be included in the FAQ.
