I started with Resolve at v17, that's when I first noticed it. From the outside looking in, to me it feels like the cache system is not updating to include the new changes. I've also had Resolve ignore changes to effects and even bypassing/enabling effects didn't do anything.
All of these problems feel like caching problems. If the audio is cached and you add a crossfade, it doesn't update leaving the original hard cut. If the audio is cached and you make a change to an effect or bypass an effect it doesn't update leaving everything in their original state.
I also do a lot of video effects on Adjustment Clips and here it is clear that the cache system frequently doesn't update itself. For example, copying Adjustment Clips to a new location often retains the source video underneath it from the old location. Deleting cache on clips doesn't always work either, but cutting the Adjustment Clips and pasting them back into the same location will force it to recache.
The caching system is very buggy, it's easy to see this with video and I suspect it's the same problem with audio as well.
