I searched prior to making this thread. If I missed something, please feel free to direct me to this answer.
I have been trying to enable two GPUs to help with video encoding and render time. I purchased an AMD ASRock TaiChi X670E for the two PCIe lanes to run X8/x8 and paired with a 9900x CPU for productivity over gaming performance. I am trying to use 2 RTX 5080s with 2 power supplies, adapter cable to link them working well. System boots, bios posts two GPUs running x8 Gen5 speed and windows working without issue. When I load Pugent Benchmark, it sees both GPUs (3 actually since the iGPU is enabled--how do I disable this?) but the render benchmark time is slower than with 1 card. Also, when I render a previous project in DR, the render time takes longer and only 1 set of fans spinning despite both GPUs being selected within preferences...seemingly only using 1 GPU but slower.
I called Blackmagic tech support and they said that multiple GPUs are not supported in 19 and no information if they will or not support this in 20, but not in the beta release. I told them that there are creators stating that they are using 2 GPUs (2-30 series) to decrease render time, and he directed me to the forums instead of advising how to perform this. This was an odd response as I thought I would get a different answer from the manufacturer. Is running multiple GPUs really possible, or did I waste a bunch of money to test this theory? Can anyone provide some assistance?
