greyed out options

PostSun May 04, 2025 7:09 pm

Nearly all options in clip menu are greyed out, apart from select clip in media pool, but I cannot see how to add to media, I keep selecting video clips, but they never seem to be in media pool, also every clip I select is a different frame rate to project, I have no idea what project, as I keep trying to delete everything and start again.

I really am finding this frustrating, I had the free version working ok for a while, but cannot remember how.I also cannot do quick export, or anything else really.

Any help gratefully received, I am not great with tech, and hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew here, but I'm using canon R5mk2 and some of the videos need editing to be any use to me.

You add clips to the Media Pool in the Media page. It will show your storage locations. If you click on one the files will be displayed. They can then be dragged to the Media Pool.

Before doing this you can either set the project framerate manually by clicking on the gear icon bottom right, or when you drag the first clip to the Media Pool you will get a popup asking you if you wish to change it. If you click on Change it will set the project framerate to that of the clip, clicking Don't Change will keep the project framerate at the default of 24fps.

I would seriously suggest you have a look at the free training materials provided by Blackmagic, especially the Training book "The Beginners Guide to DaVinci Resolve 19". The PDF file is free to download.
You will find the training materials here.

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
