Hi folks,
DaVinci Resolve was working fine until yesterday. Suddenly it now won't launch. I have tried clean installs on my iMac with new OS. Also uninstalling and then reinstalling DaVinci. No luck. Any help appreciated. I'm getting desperate.

Can you see at least the spash screen? Have you changed anything in your software / hardware configuration the last days?

In Finder, navigate to /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve and run the CaptureLogs app.

Note: This is the ROOT Library folder, NOT the /Users/user_name/Library folder.

Then send us the log file that gets created in your Desktop folder.

The file may be small enough to attach to your response here. If not, put it on a file sharing site and provide a link to the file.

The link you provided is the local path of the file on your system.

You need to attach that file to your response.

Or if that doesn't work, put the file on a file sharing site and provide a link to it.

Somehow your Resolve config.dat file has become corrupted, and that's what's preventing Resolve from starting.

Fortunately, there is a backup file that is OK. We just need to make a copy of that and rename it.

These files are located in a hidden folder, so we need to make hidden folders and files visible in Finder. To do that, do the following:

Press Command + Shift + . (period) to make the hidden files and folders appear.

Once you've done that, in Finder navigate to this folder:

/Users/josephlawlor/Library/Preferences/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve

Right click the config.dat file and select Move to Trash

Then right click the config.dat.bak file and select Duplicate

Then right click the new config.dat.bak copy file and select Rename and rename the file config.dat

Now Resolve should launch.

If you still have an issue with Resolve launching, please send another Resolve log file.

I went into that folder and cannot seem to see: config.dat file

Just located that file. Will carry out your instructions. Am now going to see if it launches.

Didn't launch. Darn. Here's the new TGZ file (attached).

I'm glad you got it sorted.

And yes, that second log you sent still had the bad config.dat file. I guess you got the .bak file copied over eventually.
