Suddenly can't run Resolve

Been using it fine for some time. All of a sudden this morning it crashes on startup. Displays splash, then the "account or key" screen (I think), and then the "we've crashed send a report?" screen.

Nothing's changed that I'm aware of.

So far I've tried:
- uninstalling and reinstalling (19.4)
- uninstalling and reinstalling (19.4) using Revo Uninstaller to remove more
- Uninstalling 19 and installing 20 beta
- refreshing my NVIDIA drivers
- rebooting

Nothing.

This is Win 11 Pro 24H2. All should be as up to date as possible. What additional information can I provide to be helpful and get a diagnosis? I'm completely blocked form working with Resolve.

Thanks,

-Leo

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows Desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here. Make sure the links don't require access credentials.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

The Resolve startup crash is being caused by Topaz.

In File Explorer, go to this folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins

In that folder will be a Topaz related folder or folders. Delete or move that folder or folders out of the Plugins folder, which will prevent Resolve from trying to load the Topaz OFX plugins.

Stand alone Topaz should still work properly. At least, that's what others have reported.

EXCELLENT. Thank you VERY much. This appears to have resolved the issue.

Topaz is an evil plug-in. The standalone works fine; the plug-in... not so much.
