Stabilization in Edit Page not working -- Canon Clog3

PostWed May 07, 2025 7:52 pm

I have been struggling with this since I started with Davinci Resolve in Davinci19.

The stabilization function in the edit page does not make a difference on any of my footage. Most of the footage is being filmed on a DJI RS4 Pro gimbal and for the most part is pretty stable with some minor, but noticeable movements. (from my steps, shakiness etc.)

I have tried all 3 stabilization modes and made adjustments to each of the parameters with no success.

I have tried the same footage in Premiere Pro, and it was stabilized with no issues, leading me to believe something must be wrong with my settings in Davinci? idk. But any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a WeTransfer link to download the example clip. I included the raw clip, and one clip with each mode of stabilization active on it, you will notice they are all exactly the same.

Seems no problem here on Studio V20b3. You are pressing the Stabilize button after selecting the mode and making any desired changes to the sliders?

Settings for Stabilization are:

Mode: Translation
Camera Lock: off
Zoom: on

Cropping Ratio .500
Smooth .500
Strength 1.00

Cheers!

Correct yes, I adjust sliders, hit stabilize, but for whatever reason, on my end, they all look the same. Did your attempt to stabilize look any different from the file I uploaded with the Translation mode selected?

I used the default Perspective settings and saw improvement.

I did see some improvement and, of course, a slight zooming of the image that was required to perform the stabilization. There was some slow-speed variation in your pan that wasn't sensed as requiring stabilization, though it was improved as you may see in reviewing the clip I processed and linked to.

This is confusing. i reviewed the clip that you sent, and do see an improvement, but for some reason do not see it on mine. My FX are enabled, I have tried to reset Davinci Resolve to default workspace, and even uninstalled and re-installed the software entirely with no success.

When you select a clip or clips and click "stabilize", do you get a pop-up box that shows a progress bar for the stabilization process? Depending on your editing hardware, it may just flash up for an instant on such a short clip. That was the case on my system.

Yes, I see the process bar, I notice a crop, but the motion does not get any level of stabilization.
